A double injury boost redeems Barca’s injury crisis ahead of El Clasico.

Frenkie de Jong and Jules Kounde might return to Barcelona’s squad in time for their upcoming clash against Real Madrid.

Both players have missed Barca’s last two games after sustaining injuries during the international break. But widespread reports in Spanish media claim they will be available for their side’s crucial match against Real Madrid.

De Jong is present in Barca’s lineup for the Celta Vigo game, meaning he has completed his recovery. However, Kounde might need to rest until the Catalans’ match against Real Madrid next week.

De Jong’s return is a crucial squad boost for Barcelona, who face Inter in a must-win clash in the Champions League before El Clasico.

Following their frustrating defeat against the Nerazzurri last week, Barcelona need a home win to escape Group C’s third spot.

With Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and Andreas Christensen being out of action with fitness problems, Xavi might move De Jong to the defensive line against Inter.

“Frenkie can play centre-back, we’ve already tried it,” Xavi said on Saturday.

“He is powerful and fast, but there are other alternatives. There is versatility in the dressing room.”
