The Blancos hope to claim their first trophy of the season in Morocco.

Real Madrid have travelled to Morocco to face Al Ahly in the Club World Cup semi-finals. However, a number of key players are absent from their squad for the tournament.

Thibaut Courtois and Karim Benzema are the most notable absentees from the Blancos’ list.

Courtois is yet to recover from a groin strain he suffered during the weekend. Benzema, on the other hand, is struggling with a leg injury that he picked up in his side’s 2-0 victory over Valencia last Thursday.

Eden Hazard, Eder Militao, Lucas Vazquez and Ferland Mendy are also out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad due to fitness problems.

Real Madrid have suffered a significant dip in form amid their brutal schedule. The Blancos have slipped eight points behind Barcelona in La Liga, failing to win three of their last five matches.

The absence of Courtois will most likely see Andrey Lunin star between Real Madrid’s posts. Up front, Mariano Diaz could get game time as Ancelotti tries to use the players at his disposal in an efficient way.

In case Real Madrid reaches the final, Benzema and Courtois might join the Blancos later this week. After the tournament, the Blancos will continue their La Liga campaign with a match against Elche on February 15.
