The former Monaco star was heavily linked with a move to Paris before joining Real Madrid.

Aurelien Tchouameni has admitted he thought about joining Paris Saint-Germain before his move to Real Madrid.

Tchouameni developed into one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 after joining Monaco from Bordeaux in 2020. His performances soon attracted interest from several elite clubs both in France and abroad.

PSG initially looked as the favourites to secure the midfielder’s signing. But Real Madrid managed to complete a deal for Tchouameni in July last year.

“PSG? Frankly, I’ve thought about it,” Tchouameni told Canal Plus.

“It’s a very big European club and we want French clubs to succeed. But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no.”

A few European sides inquired again about Tchouameni after Jude Bellingham’s arrival during the summer transfer window. But Real Madrid are eager to keep the star midfielder for the time being.

The Frenchman has played for Real Madrid in all of their matches, both in La Liga and the Champions League this season. Despite the competition in the Blancos’ midfield line, Tchouameni has turned into a cornerstone of Carlo Ancelotti’s lineup due to his impressive versatility.
