The Blancos have an opportunity to alleviate their injury crisis this January.

As the winter transfer window looms, Real Madrid is gearing up to address the challenges posed by a flurry of injuries in their first-team squad.

From Thibaut Courtois to Vinicius Jr, the Spanish capital club has faced a relentless wave of setbacks, particularly in the central defensive department.

Amidst speculation in the English press suggesting a potential return of the seasoned defender Raphaël Varane, who is currently under contract with Manchester United until 2024, a report from Marca (via Foot Mercato) has shed light on the Real Madrid president’s stance on the issue.

Contrary to the rumours, Perez seems to be dismissive of the idea of Varane donning the iconic white jersey again. Despite the injury crisis, the Madrid president does not envision the World Cup-winning defender making a comeback to the Santiago Bernabéu, where he previously made 260 appearances over a decade (2011-2021).

The option of recalling Rafa Marín, currently on loan to Deportivo Alavés, doesn’t align with the sporting direction’s plans. However, the final decision might hinge on Nacho Fernandez’s choice to continue with the club or seek a new challenge.

Real Madrid will return to action with a La Liga game against Mallorca on January 3.
