The LaLiga giants appear set to pull the plug on Kubo’s spell at Villarreal in favor of sending him to another side this month.

Real Madrid are set to recall Takefusa Kubo from Villarreal and send the winger back on loan to Getafe in January, according to reports in Spain.

The 19-year-old has struggled to break into Unai Emery’s plans. Despite starting in five of Villarreal’s six Europa League games, he has only made the lineup twice in the club’s 17 league games this season.

Emery has favored using Kubo as a substitute instead. It’s reportedly left the player and Real Madrid unhappy. Hence, the Spanish champions plan to end Take’s time at Villarreal in favor of another loan move.

Spanish outlet Diario AS claim Getafe will be Kubo’s next destination. It’s a win-win scenario for everybody involved. Joining a Madrid-based club means Los Blancos can keep close tabs on Kubo, while Villarreal will be able to pursue another player with the extra spot in their squad. All that remains is for an agreement to be signed.

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has also confirmed ‘Kubo is an option’ for his side to sign in January.

The Azulones, who sit 16th in the LaLiga standings, have recently signed Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena on loan until the end of the season.
