Vinicius will take over Cristiano Ronaldo’s old No.7 Real Madrid jersey following Eden Hazard’s departure from the Spanish club.
Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior will wear the No. 7 shirt for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
The jersey was left vacant after Eden Hazard left the club. The Belgian winger had the No.7 since his arrival from Chelsea in 2019. Before him, Cristiano Ronaldo held exclusive bragging rights for the No. 7 shirt. The Portuguese wore it for eight of his nine seasons from 2010 to 2018, scoring a club-record 450 goals in 438 games and winning four Champions League trophies.
Other notable players to have worn the jersey for Real Madrid in the past include Raul Gonzalez, Emilio Butragueño, Juan “Juanito” Gomez, and Amancio Amaro.
Vinicius’ Brazil teammate Rodrygo Goes will now wear the No. 11 shirt, which was previously worn by Marco Asensio, who is leaving the club at the end of his contract this month. The No. 9 jersey, previously worn by Karim Benzema, remains vacant after the striker’s move to Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad.
