Real Madrid have reportedly reached a ‘preferential agreement’ to sign Erling Haaland in the summer.

Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Erling Haaland in the summer from Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Manchester City, Barcelona, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.

But according to Sport, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have in place a ‘preferential agreement’ with Haaland’s representatives which would allow Los Blancos to sign the 22-year-old in the summer.

This report goes on to claim that an agreement was reached after Madrid chiefs held a summit in Monaco to finalise the deal, with Rafaela Pimenta and Alf-Inge Haaland negotiating on behalf of the striker.

Haaland has a £66million release clause in his contract and has scored 80 goals in 79 appearances for Dortmund since joining from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago.

Speaking about his future in January, Haaland admitted that things would ‘start to happen’.

“The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision,” he said. “All I want to do is play football.

“But they press me… about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon.”

When asked if he could decide imminently, the Norwegian added: “That is what they [Dortmund] want.

“It means things will happen now. They have started to put a lot of pressure on me, and I have to accept that so now is the time to get things started.”
