Los Blancos have a rich history of signing star players, and the club head is keen on continuing his ‘Galacticos’ policy.

Real Madrid are “working on a rebuild”, insists president Florentino Perez in response to the Kylian Mbappe transfer talks.

The Real Madrid faithful have long been waiting to see a certain Frenchman, who currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain, in the famous white shirt.

A vast majority of the Madridistas see Mbappe as the rightful successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, who spent nine exceptionally successful seasons in the Spanish capital and cemented his status as the club’s greatest footballer of all time in the process.

The interest is mutual as the 22-year-old forward is also supposedly keen on following in the footsteps of his idols Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane, and it has been reported he has already requested to leave PSG.

“Mbappe? He’s not a Real Madrid player so I cannot talk about him,” Perez told Onda Cero.

“I know what the fans want. We are working on a rebuild. You all know who I am.

“You all know who I am. You know what I can do. The people trust me because they know what I can do. They know I bring the best players in the world.

“Mbappe is a PSG player, and that must be respected – you know I cannot talk about him. I won’t talk about Mbappé and Haaland.”
