Rodrygo wowed the crowd with his homage to his idol Cristiano Ronaldo after netting a goal against Chelsea in the Champions League.

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo took a leaf out of Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal celebration book to avoid injuring his knee in the Champions League game against Chelsea.

The 22-year-old emulated his idol’s trademark ‘siiuuu’ celebration in London after scoring Real Madrid’s first goal in the second leg of their quarter-final contest.

“When I scored, my immediate reaction was to think about doing one of those knee slides but I’ve got a slightly tender knee when I flex,” Rodrygo later explained to reporters.

“So it popped into my mind to copy my idol, Cristiano, and copy what he does.”

Rodrygo doubled his and Real Madrid’s tally in the second half to seal a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, Carlo Ancelotti’s side clinched the quarter-tie with a 4-0 aggregate scoreline. They’ll face either Manchester City or Bayern Munich in the semi-finals. Before then, however, a LaLiga game against Celta Vigo awaits on Saturday.
