The Blancos are planning to sign one of the most promising young centre-backs in Europe.

Real Madrid have reportedly made their first offer for RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.

The 23-year-old signed a one-year contract extension at Leipzig in the summer as his move to Chelsea fell through. A wonderful World Cup campaign with Croatia has intensified reports about Gvardiol’s next destination.

The Blues have seemingly stopped pursuing a move for the Croatian star after adding Benoit Badiashile to their backline. However, Real Madrid have stepped up to complete a blockbuster transfer for the Bundesliga star.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Real Madrid have held two meetings with Leipzig in the past two weeks, discussing a possible move for Gvardiol.

The Sport Italia journalist claims Real Madrid are ready to pay €120m for the defender. The offer dwarfs Chelsea’s bid of €80m last summer.

Manchester City are another club that might compete against Real Madrid for Gvardiol’s signature.

Leipzig have already rejected a €90m offer from the Premier League champions. But the Citizens might come up with an improved bid ahead of the next summer.

Real Madrid’s proposed salary is significantly less than Chelsea’s offer. However, the Croatian star himself is reportedly leaning toward a move to Spain in the next transfer window.
