Real Madrid have ended speculation regarding Carlo Ancelotti’s future as the manager enters the final months of his deal.
Carlo Ancelotti has signed a new contract with Real Madrid until June 2026.
The 64-year-old Italian’s previous deal was to expire at the end of the season. He is set to coach Brazil at the 2024 Copa America tournament. This has led to rumors about him taking the national team job on a full-time basis.
Yet, on Friday, Real Madrid squashed this speculation once and for all by announcing a new deal for Ancelotti.
“Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to extend our coach’s contract until June 30, 2026,” read the club’s statement.
“In his five seasons as coach of Real Madrid, he has won 10 trophies: two Champions League, two Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, one league title, two Copas del Rey and one Spanish Supercopa.
“Carlo Ancelotti is the only coach to have won four European Cups and has achieved the most victories in the history of the competition (118), and he is also the first coach to win the five major European leagues (Italy, England, France, Germany and Spain).”
Ancelotti has coached teams like Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton during his career.
The Italian is in his second spell as the Real Madrid manager, having returned to the club in 2021. He has overseen 260 matches in charge of the Whites, winning 189 times, drawing 33 times, and losing on 38 occasions.
Under him this season, Real Madrid rank top of LaLiga and have qualified for the Champions League last-16 stage as the Group C winners.
