The French striker picked up a knock during Real Madrid’s draw against Real Betis on Sunday.

Karim Benzema will reportedly recover in time for Real Madrid’s upcoming Champions League match against Liverpool.

The Ballon d’Or winner scored twice when the Blancos smashed Liverpool 5-2 at Old Trafford last month. He suffered an injury in Real Madrid’s goalless draw against Real Betis, putting his chances of playing the second leg in danger.

However, the Athletic claims Benzema will recover in time for the upcoming game. According to the English outlet, the Frenchman’s injury is “not serious”, meaning he will be available to star against Liverpool.

The Reds come into the game with mixed feelings. Their historic defeat in the first leg is coupled with a sense of growing optimism after a 7-0 win over Manchester United.

Benzema’s comeback will force Liverpool to stay more cautious with their attacks at Santiago Bernabeu. Similar to the first leg, Real Madrid forwards will look to get behind Liverpool’s backline to extend their three-goal lead.

Real Madrid will have their last training session before meeting Espanyol on Friday. Ancelotti could even decide to give minutes to Benzema against the Catalan side if he’s fully fit.
