The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been under a near-constant wave of criticism from the media.
The recent negative media reports and comments about Cristiano Ronaldo have disappointed Real Madrid defender David Alaba.
In the past month, Ronaldo has been at the center of some heavy criticism from the press for his performances and behavior, especially after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.
Their remarks haven’t gone down well with Alaba, who feels Ronaldo deserves respect for his achievements in the game.
“What he [Ronaldo] has done in the last 15 years, I am personally really grateful for,” Alaba told Servus TV about the criticism against the Real Madrid legend.
“He has helped shape our generation. What he has achieved is unbelievable. It’s sad and a shame that you have to see scenes like that or read such things about him.”
Ronaldo is currently a free agent after leaving Manchester United at the end of last month.
Despite frequent reports from Spanish outlet Marca tipping the 37-year-old to sign for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr until 2030, he has made no announcement on his next club yet.
