The Real Madrid star has gone from a total flop to a top performer this season.

Vinicius scored 14 goals in his 118 games for Real Madrid during his first three seasons. However, he has shown a completely different form this season, nearly reaching the same tally after only 25 appearances.

He has also secured a regular spot in the lineup, forcing Carlo Ancelotti to keep Eden Hazard on the bench. The Italian coach has explained Vinicius’ recent improvement in a new interview.

“Vinicius has improved because he does things with less rush than before,” Ancelotti told AS“Vinicius has changed especially in that he takes a pause in the important moments of each play.

“The important thing in a player is that he does the difficult things well, because that makes the easy things come easier. “Vini knew how to do the difficult but failed at the easy. Now, he takes more time with the easier plays and it is going well for him.”

He added: “Vinicius has fantastic speed and talent. I’ve never seen a player with his ability to go one-on-one.

“But he still has the capacity to improve. For example, in the game without the ball, in attacking spaces and shooting – he can progress in all three.”

Real Madrid are leading the La Liga table with an eight-point clearance over Sevilla. The Blancos have also qualified for the Champions League round of 16, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain.

After the winter break, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will return to action against Getafe on January 2.
