Real Madrid should prioritize the signing of Kylian Mbappe if they plan on making a big long-term investment, according to Ronaldo.

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has long been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid.

It is expected that 2021 will be the year Real Madrid would finally make a move for the 21-year old Frenchman, who they reportedly eye as a successor to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Following their 2019/20 La Liga success, Florentino Perez announced that the club do not plan on making any major signings this summer. The president’s statement sparked rumors that Los Blancos are saving funds in order to match Mbappe’s price tag next year, which is reportedly around €200 million.

Another PSG star, Neymar, had also been linked with a switch to Santiago Bernabeu in the past.

And should such a situation arise where Real Madrid cannot between buying Neymar or Mbappe, Ronaldo insists his former team should go for the latter.

“Right now, it is not that one is better than another. But if Real Madrid had to make a big investment, they should do so thinking about the future,” he said during a webinar hosted by Santander, as Marca reports.

“Neymar is 28 years old and Mbappe is 22. As an investment, it would be more logical to bring the younger [of the two].
