The Blancos are already searching the market for a new manager.
Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly among Real Madrid’s main candidates to replace Carlo Ancelotti next summer.
Ancelotti’s long and illustrious tenure at Real Madrid is coming to a close. At the end of the season, the Emilian coach, whose contract with Blancos expires on June 30th, is set to take over as the head coach of the Brazilian national team.
The Blancos’ president, Florentino Perez, appears to have no intention of extending Ancelotti’s contract. Perez has been reportedly searching for a new manager since Real Madrid failed to defend their La Liga and Champions League titles last season.
The hunt for Ancelotti’s successor has already begun, with Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid player, emerging as the frontrunner. Alonso has taken the Bundesliga by storm since his arrival at Bayer Leverkusen.
The former midfielder, however, is not the only coach on Real Madrid’s list. According to Cadena Ser, Brighton manager De Zerbi, has caught Perez’s eye due to the exciting style of play exhibited by the Seagulls, as well as their achievements with one of the Premier League’s lowest wage bills. Brighton finished 6th in the last campaign, securing qualification for the Europa League, and has had a strong start to the current season.
Other alternatives include Raul and Alvaro Arbeloa, who are currently coaching Real Castilla and the Blancos’ Under-19 team, respectively.
