Valverde reportedly punched the Villarreal star after a La Liga game on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti has insisted Federico Valverde is focused and motivated ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming match against Chelsea.
Valverde has dominated the headlines in the Spanish media after his tussle with Villarreal’s Alex Baena. The Real Madrid star reportedly punched Baena in the face after Villarreal’s 3-2 win at Santiago Bernabeu.
Baena has filed an official complaint with the police after the incident. However, Ancelotti says the Uruguayan star is ready to star for Real Madrid in their upcoming clash against Chelsea in the Champions League.
“He looks good and is training well with the rest of his teammates. He has great human qualities,” Ancelotti told a pre-match press conference. “I’m sure that tomorrow he’ll give his all, as he always does. I won’t comment more on this situation.”
He added: “Valverde is fine, motivated, focused and he will start tomorrow.”
Real Madrid will face Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at Santiago Bernabeu tomorrow. Following a brilliant El Clasico win in the Copa del Rey, the Blancos suffered their fifth defeat of the La Liga season against Villarreal.
Let’s see if Valverde and co can bounce back when they take on Frank Lampard’s men on Wednesday.
