Real Madrid came back from behind to secure their third La Liga win in a row at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 in their La Liga game on Saturday. The Blancos extended their lead on top of the table while Sociedad slipped to the sixth spot.
A Big win ahead of a big game!
Real Madrid have won all of their three La Liga games since their 1-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16.
The Blancos conceded an early goal when their former player converted a penalty for Sociedad in the tenth minute. The guests held on to their lead for half an hour, but then came Real Madrid’s equalizer at the perfect time.
Following an assist from Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga unleashed a sensational strike from 35 yards out to put Real Madrid ahead.
Another stunning goal came only three minutes later, this time through Modric. The experienced midfielder received the ball from Karim Benzema on the edge of the box before smashing it into the back of the net with a precise strike.
Having completed their comeback in the first half, the hosts started their efforts to extend their lead as soon as the second half started.
However, it took them 30 minutes to score their third goal. Another penalty saw Karim Benzema scoring his 20th La Liga goal of the season.
While Real Madrid’s hunger grew by scoring each goal, Sociedad’s defence seemed utterly shattered after the penalty. Marco Asensio scored Real Madrid’s fourth goal in the 80th minute to complete his side’s great victory on home soil.
What’s next for Real Madrid and Sociedad?
The Blancos hope the victory will inspire them to secure a comeback against PSG on Wednesday. Being 1-0 behind on aggregate, Real Madrid attackers must work hard to show a similar display at Santago Bernabeu.
On the other hand, Sociedad slipped to sixth place on the table after the defeat. They will now prepare to meet host Alaves in their next La Liga game next week.
