A crushing win over the Catalans secured Real Madrid’s 35th La Liga title.

Real Madrid defeated Espanyol in their La Liga game on Saturday. The Blancos managed to secure their league title with a brilliant home victory.

Real Madrid are the Spanish champions!

The Blancos started pushing for the opener as soon as the game began. Following half an hour of relentless attacks, Rodrygo scored Real Madrid’s first goal.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side had several chances to double their lead before Rodrygo completed his brace in the 43rd minute. A misplaced pass saw the Brazilian latch on to the ball inside the box before making it 2-0 with a precise low shot.

Espanyol tried to get back into the game at the beginning of the first half. However, that only provided more space for the hosts’ attackers.

Eduardo Camavinga’s perfect through ball found Marco Asensio, who slotted it behind Diego Lopez as soon as he found himself in the one-on-one situation.

Being 3-0 behind, Espanyol intensified their efforts to at least find the back of the net at Santiago Bernabeu. They could not convert their few chances, with Real Madrid constantly threatening their backline with counter-attacks.

Karim Benzema then put the icing on the cake for the Blancos by scoring their fourth goal of the night in the 81st minute.

The goal sealed another brilliant home win for Real Madrid, who celebrated winning the La Liga title after the final whistle.

What’s next for Real Madrid?

Real Madrid lifted the La Liga trophy after claiming their 25th victory of the season. They have bagged 81 points from their 34 league matches, conceding only three defeats along the way.

The Blancos must now prepare to face Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday.

They will go into the game being 4-3 behind on aggregate. However, based on what we saw from Real Madrid’s front line today, City must expect a tough second leg.
