A hard-fought win on home soil saw the Blancos secure their place at the top of the La Liga table.

Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 3-1 in their La Liga game on Saturday. The Blancos pulled off another brilliant attacking display despite Karim Benzema’s absence.

Real Madrid are unstoppable!

Real Madrid haven’t lost a single game across all competitions this season, and Sevilla showed no signs early on that they wanted to end that trend.

The hosts dominated the possession, looking to create chances down both flanks.

Luka Modric opened the scoring for the Blancos only five minutes into the game. But then Sevilla managed to find their feet in the game and keep their defensive integrity.

The guests even managed to surprise the La Liga champions with an equalizer at the beginning of the second period.

But Real Madrid re-established their control over the game, pushing to restore the lead. Following a host of missed chances, Lucas Vazquez turned a swift counter-attack into Real Madrid’s second goal of the night.

Sevilla made a few attempts to come back into the game, but then came Federico Valverde’s stunner in the 81st minute.

The Spaniard received a pass from Asensio from behind the box before smashing it past the keeper with an unstoppable shot.

The 3-1 win increases Real Madrid’s lead over Barcelona to six points at the top of the table, with Barca having a game at hand.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men will now prepare to meet RB Leipzig in their favourite competition on Tuesday.
