Real Madrid qualify as group leaders as they extend their winning streak to nine matches.

Real Madrid defeated Inter with a 2-0 result in their Champions League clash on Tuesday. The Blancos won the battle for Group D’s first place against a 10-men Inter side.

Two stunning goals for Real Madrid!

Real Madrid gained possession early on after a few Inter attacks at the beginning of the game. Just like the Spanish giants’ recent games, Toni Kroos was an essential part of the victory.

The German midfielder scored the opening goal for Real Madrid in the 17th minute. Following a perfect assist from Rodrygo, the 31-year-old smashed the ball past Samir Handanovic with a beautiful low shot.

The game got more physical in the second half while both teams tried to win the midfield battle. Nicolo Barella lost his temper and punched Eder Militao in the thigh as he got up from the turf. The Italian star received a red card in the 64th minute as Inter continued the game being a man down.

Despite replacing some of his key players, Carlo Ancelotti kept Real Madrid men upfront to continue their attacks. The Blancos doubled their lead through another spectacular shot in the 80th minute. Marco Asensio approached the box from the right before curling the ball into the top left corner of the net. It seems like two Real Madrid players would have to compete for the goal of the week prize.

Asensio’s goal secured Real Madrid’s place on top of the Group D table. Inter qualified as the second team, while Sheriff Tiraspol qualified for the Europa League. Shakhtar Donetsk are out of the European games as they finished fourth with two points.

Real Madrid will prepare for a La Liga derby against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, while Inter face Cagliari in their next league game.
