Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium was the place where Real Madrid got a visit from Real Sociedad in La Liga. We have tonight’s player ratings.

It was an ideal day for Real Madrid to defeat Real Sociedad at home in La Liga. With only one more match to play the Madrid derby against Atletico, getting three points was vital for Los Blancos. However, the Donostiarras are always a problematic side for Real Madrid regardless of the venue. They played at Alfredo Di Stefano stadium in the capital with a strange starting eleven due to the many injuries they have.

This time around, ‘Zizou’ decided to use an attacking trio formed by Isco, Asensio, and Mariano. Diaz played as a striker with the other two playmakers positioned as wingers from both flanks. During the first half, none of them played a great game as Toni Kroos delivered a stellar first half. But Real Sociedad remained alive despite Los Blancos’ attempts that mostly hit the bar or went wide. Most of the action was reserved for the second half.

Valverde changes Real Madrid’s fortune.

A key player in Real Madrid’s lineup was Fede Valverde, who finally returned to a call-up list from an injury. The Uruguay international didn’t get on the pitch until the second half but that’s all he needed to make an impression. Before getting on the pitch, Portu scored an incredible header for Real Sociedad that gave Los Blancos a sense of urgency. Zidane knew he needed to shake things up with his replacements. In came Rodrygo, Vinicius, Duro, and Valverde.

Those were the players that salvaged a point for Real Madrid near the end of the match. Fede and Vini were involved in the equalizer that the Brazilian youngster scored before the final whistle. A point that leaves them with the same number of points as Barcelona just before facing Atletico Madrid at Metropolitano Stadium. If they win next weekend, Real Madrid will automatically reignite La Liga contest this season.
