Benzema returns to Real Madrid XI!
Real Madrid welcomed back Karim Benzema to their lineup as he recovered from a knee injury during the international break.
The Blancos struggled to find their feet in the game early on, while Osasuna looked dangerous on the counter-attacks.
A tightly-contested first half seemed destined to end in a stalemate, but then came Vinicius Junior’s opener in the 42nd minute.
The Brazil international crossed the ball into the box from the left-hand side, but the cross went straight into the back of the net after bouncing in front of the keeper.
The goal motivated Osasuna to find a quick equalizer after half-time. The guests’ efforts resulted in a deserved goal through Kike Garcia in the 50th minute.
Real Madrid then doubled down on their attacks from both sides, trying to get behind Osasuna’s backline. Their opponents went a man down when the referee dismissed David Garcia with a straight red card in the 78th minute.
Garcia’s foul also resulted in a penalty for Real Madrid, which Benzema failed to convert. The Blancos continued their attacks after the spot-kick, but Sergio Herrera kept them at bay with a host of incredible saves.
