Real Madrid defeated Atletico Bilbao in their La Liga game on Wednesday. The Blancos maintained their lead on top of the table, while Atletico remained in eighth place.

Benzema strikes again!

Real Madrid were dominant throughout the first half. Similar to what we have seen several times this season, they kept the pressure from both sides in their final third.

Their efforts finally resulted in the only goal of the night in the 40th minute. The rebound of a Marco Asensio strike found Karim Benzema at the perfect spot, with the Frenchman converting the tap-in.

The Blancos waited for their opponents’ mistakes in the second half to extend their lead with counter-attacks. Bilbao managed to make several chances, but they lacked enough composure to convert them.

Real Madrid stay on top of the La Liga table as they win another crucial battle on their way to league glory. On the other hand, Bilbao got their eighth draw of the season, which is more than any other side in the league. The Basque side remain behind Barcelona on the eighth place on the table.
