The Germany international sealed a return to his former club earlier this week after two years at Chelsea.
RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco is keen to avoid heaping pressure on Timo Werner after his return to the German club.
The 26-year-old forward rejoined Leipzig on Tuesday in a €35 million deal from Chelsea, two years after leaving the Red Bulls for a €64 million transfer to Stamford Bridge in July 2020.
Werner returns to the venue where made his name, having scored a club-record 95 goals during a four-year stint, after finding the back of the net just 10 times in 56 Premier League games for Chelsea.
“As for Timo, there is no pressure at all,” Tedesco said in a press conference. “Of course, we notice what kind of commotion that’s creating. He’s coming back, he played for Leipzig before as you know.
“He did a good job then. That’s all we ask for. He just needs to enjoy what he’s doing. He did the full pre-season with Chelsea, but only played two games with them.
“So we will not burden him. We all have to be careful that we don’t overload him. We just want him to have fun and show his strengths, of which he has many.
“The rest will come bit by bit. This won’t happen overnight.”
Leipzig, who drew 1-1 against Werner’s boyhood club Stuttgart last Sunday in their Bundesliga opener, will next face FC Koln this Saturday.
