The Manchester United attacker will be forced to miss his country’s upcoming clashes against Belgium and Iceland due to fitness issues.

England emerged 3-0 victorious in the friendly fixture over the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night, courtesy of goals from Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Marcus Rashford played no part in the win as an injury sustained last weekend with Manchester United delayed his arrival to the Three Lions camp despite being included in Gareth Southgate’s 29-man squad list.

The 23-year-old picked up a knock during Man United’s 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

The FA confirmed on Thursday that he has been pulled out of the England team for the Nation League clashes against Belgium and Iceland.

Meanwhile, Wolves defender Conor Coady is another player who will be missing for next week’s matches in accordance with COVID-19 regulations.

An official statement by the FA reads: “Conor Coady and Marcus Rashford will miss England’s remaining November internationals. Coady has been forced to self-isolate having discovered he had inadvertently come into contact with somebody prior to camp who has tested positive for Covid-19 via an NHS Test and Trace alert.

“The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender had returned two negative tests as part of The FA and UEFA’s protocol but, in line with UK Government guidelines, has to adhere to a period of self-isolation.

“Meanwhile, Rashford’s arrival into camp had initially been delayed to allow for further assessment on an injury sustained last weekend but the Manchester United forward will now not meet up.”
