Rashford has been named as one of three forwards that Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre has expressed an interest in.

Jordi Farre has named Marcus Rashford among three forwards he ‘likes most in the world’ alongside Espanyol’s Raul de Tomas and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

The Barcelona presidential candidate believes the club need reinforcements in the attack. He has boldly claimed he could re-sign the ‘third-best player in the world’ Neymar between ‘€40-45m’ despite Barca selling him to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record €222m in 2017.

But Farre, who is among the most high-profile candidates in the presidential elections, has suggested he could look beyond Neymar.

“We need a forward, I think we need a goalscorer and I think [Martin] Braithwaite needs a substitute or a better starter, right,” Farre told 90min.

“I think Braithwaite can be a very good option, but he should be the fifth or sixth player in the Barça forward line.”

On forwards he likes, the Catalan said: “Look, there is one that I’ve liked for a long time and yesterday he scored a great goal.

“I have not seen it but they have told me that it is spectacular that it is Raul de Tomas [of Espanyol].

“I think he is a player who has many things to succeed – he has some injury problems and that – but I also like [Erling] Haaland, Raul de Tomas, Rashford – I also like him. I think there are very interesting players.”

Farre added: “Rashford is one of the footballers I like most in the world.”

Rashford’s former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has also recently suggested the 23-year-old could be open to playing for another club in the future.
