Marcus Rashford says his charity work off the pitch does not in any way affect his performances for club and country.

Marcus Rashford is fast becoming a fan favourite, even from rival fans alike.

On the pitch, the 22-year-old has proven himself as one of the most promising attackers in England. Given he’s been playing first-team football since a tender age, his growth has been remarkable over the years.

Off the pitch, Rashford has shown his quality as well. The Manchester United man was vocal about charity work during lockdown and has so far shown his voice in the fight against child food poverty.

Days ago, his work got even more recognition as he was awarded an MBE from the Queen as a form of acknowledgement for his efforts.

Many have criticized Rashford about focusing too much about non-football matters. Some even claimed it has affected his game of late but he was sure to dismiss those claims.

The United star was asked whether all of his hard work off the pitch has any negative influence on his football performances.

“For me, no,” Rashford said to the Manchester United website.

“I have a team that works behind me and we make sure we’re all on the same page. A lot of the work is done months in advance and I think it’s important for me to keep doing that. It’s the only way for me to keep on top of it. Like you said, there’s a lot going on.”

“At the moment, I feel in a good head space and I’m comfortable doing the two things. I feel ready to train every day and play the games.”

“If it was taking a toll, I’d have to look at a different way of doing things – find a way to support the kids and make sure my football career goes in the right direction.”

Rashford is in contention to start when Manchester United take on Newcastle after the international break.
