The Red Devils manager has impressed Varane with his immediate impact on the team.
Raphael Varane has given his verdict on Manchester United’s first days under new manager Erik ten Hag.
The former Ajax boss tasted victory in his first match in charge of the Red Devils on Tuesday. A 4-0 win over Liverpool in a pre-season friendly has already gotten United fans excited for the upcoming season.
However, Varane says the team must only follow the initial improvement with more work.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
“We know exactly how we want to play. The manager explained very well what we have to do and it’s absolutely clear.
“So we know we have to be very fit because it’s a very physical way to play.
“We are happy with the result obviously but we know we have to work very hard still to be ready for the start of the season.
“I think we know exactly what we have to do – we have to improve in everything.”
He added: “We have ambition for this season but also, most important, we have to work with humility. I think it’s the most important.
“As I said, it’s just the beginning so we have to improve in everything.”
Man United will travel to Australia to play a friendly match against Melbourne Victory on Friday.
