The Red Devils extended their unbeaten start under the German to five matches following Thursday’s victory.
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick praised Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, and Edinson Cavani after the club’s 3-1 win over Burnley.
The English giants put a hapless draw at Newcastle behind them to secure a necessary victory at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Ronaldo assisted Scott McTominay’s eighth-minute opening goal to put United ahead. Jadon Sancho later had a shot deflected off Burnley’s Ben Mee to double the home side’s lead. Then, 15 minutes before the break, Ronaldo found the back of the net for his eighth league goal of the season.
Aaron Lennon did score to reduce Burnley’s deficit, but his strike proved nothing more than a consolation goal for Sean Dyche’s men.
Rangnick praises the team, gives special mention to forwards
“As expected, it was a very tough physical game against a team who play very physical,” the coach told Amazon Prime.
“We also showed the qualities we have in our team. It was important today to raise the energy level.
“The whole team performance was a lot better, I was pleased with the performances of our wingers. Jadon did well and Mason. Eddie and Cristiano, the work effort was amazing.”
The 3-1 win over Burnley has moved Manchester United up to sixth-place in the Premier League table, four points outside the top-four albeit with a game in hand.
Rangnick’s side return to action next Monday at home to Wolves in another Premier League match.
