Aaron Ramsey has called for a reaction from his Juventus teammates ahead of their Champions League showdown with Barcelona.

Ramsey made his fourth start of the season in Sunday’s match against Hellas Verona, but could not spare the team from dropping valuable points.

The former Arsenal man had some decent moments in the game and played a role in the build-up to Alvaro Morata’s disallowed goal. But as the game wore on, he gradually faded and made way for Giacomo Vrioni.

It capped off a disappointing night for the Bianconeri, who mounted a comeback from a goal down to salvage a 1-1 draw thanks to substitute Dejan Kulusevski’s goal.

Any such slip-ups in Turin against Barcelona, however, could prove a lot more costly. Therefore, Ramsey has called for a response from the team ahead of their Group G encounter on Wednesday.

“It was a difficult match, they pressed a lot across the field, we went down a goal, but we recovered and tried to win,” said Ramsey as quoted on the club’s website.

“We are trying to learn a new game system and we need to improve and be balanced. My role? I also try to help cover in defense, that’s one of my characteristics.

“Now, the match against Barcelona awaits us, it will be a difficult one, but we will play here at home and we will have to react to tonight’s result and play a great match.”

Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo, meanwhile, opened up on his plans to reintegrate Cristiano Ronaldo back into his squad once he recovers from COVID-19.
