Eyebrows were raised when the Gunners made the former Sheffield United man the costliest goalkeeper in the club’s history.
Arsenal legend David Seaman is “really impressed” by Aaron Ramsdale, who he believes has done a good job so far in silencing his doubters.
Arsenal secured the signature of Ramsdale from Sheffield United in the summer for a transfer fee that could reportedly rise to £30 million.
The 23-year-old arrived at the Emirates to provide competition to Bernd Leno but has managed to usurp him as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice shot-stopper following a string of impressive performances. He has started in six games across all competitions so far, keeping a clean sheet in four of them.
Ramsdale has now received plaudits from a Gunners icon, who made over 500 appearances for the club and won 12 major honors, for hitting the ground running in north London.
“I have seen him in training and in games as well, and I’m really impressed,” Seaman told The Mirror, speaking as part of LloydsPharmacy’s ‘Give Flu The Boot’ initiative.
“He’s improved a lot. He’s got a great character and looks to be settling well.
“A lot of Arsenal fans weren’t too sure about him signing but he’s proved them wrong so far.”
