Raheem Sterling says he is happy with his changed position at Chelsea.

The former Manchester City star has played as a winger for most of his career, with quick runs and dribbling being the most significant trait of his game.

However, since Graham Potter’s arrival at Chelsea, Sterling has moved to the wing-back spot, which has resulted in mixed results.

Sterling looked even more dangerous offensively in Chelsea‘s win over RB Salzburg last Wednesday. However, his struggles with defensive positioning were evident in the subsequent Brighton defeat.

“You’ve come to a new team, there is different things going to be asked of you, it’s a completely different shape,” Sterling told the Kelly and Wrighty Show.

“I haven’t played in back five for a while, but it’s something the manager has asked me to do and something that I’m more than happy to do as well.

“We’ve got the ball, I’m high and wide but you’ve to defend as well… But the more I’m next to the box, the better for myself. The more time I have to figure it out in this position, I’m more than happy to play it.”

Chelsea will return to the Champions League to host Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday before facing Arsenal in the north London derby three days later.
