According to a report, PSG will go head-to-head with Barcelona for the signature of Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.
Paris Saint-Germain will rival Barcelona for the signature of City defender Eric Garcia this summer, according to reports.
The 19-year-old looks set to leave the Etihad after his contract at the club runs out this summer.
Garcia reportedly fancies a return to the Nou Camp but another European giant has now joined the race for his signature.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, via Daily Mail, PSG want to hijack Barcelona’s pursuit of the City defender.
The report claims that boss Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of Eric Garcia.
The 20-year-old has only made 30 appearances for the Citizens but is already highly-rated at the club.
Garcia originally looked set for a Barca return this month. The club’s delayed presidential elections have put an end to that hope, leaving the player in limbo for the next few months.
It is now believed that Barcelona will sign the Spaniard on a free this summer but PSG could yet come in their way.
The report concludes that Barca remain the favorites to sign Garcia but PSG will give it a close chase until the very end.
Barca officials won’t sanction a £30 million move before the new president is announced. That gives PSG the chance to hijack their bid this summer.
Garcia’s contract expires in June which allows him to move on a free after that point.
Whoever wins the race for Garcia will be snapping up a promising young defender with bags of potential.
