We’ve all heard about the differences between Ronaldo and Messi repeatedly, but what about what they share in common? Vitinha reveals all…

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has said Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are not so unlike after all.

The 22-year-old plays alongside Ronaldo for the Portugal national team and joined Messi at PSG in the summer by completing a €30 million transfer from Portuguese champions FC Porto.

In an interview with O Jogo, Vitinha opened up on the heavyweight duo. He told the Portuguese outlet that Ronaldo and Messi have more things in common than differences.

“There are far more things that unite them than things that separate them,” he said.

“They each have their own way of playing and their own characteristics, but the things that unite them are immense. The will to always want more, without taking into account what they have already earned, is part of it.

“If I won half of what they won, that would be amazing! The desire to keep scoring goals, making assists, playing great games, helping the team… That’s what defines them as the best of all time and I’m privileged to have had the time to play with them.”

Vitinha has been a regular in the PSG starting lineup this season, making 10 appearances overall.

He will now link up with Ronaldo during the international break as Portugal resume their UEFA Nations League campaign, starting with a trip to the Czech Republic this Saturday.
