The Parisians are eager to keep one of their veteran defenders at the club.
Marquinhos has confirmed advanced contract negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Brazilian centre-back signed a four-year deal with the club back in 2020. Since then, he has continued his leading role at the heart of PSG’s backline.
The Parisians have entered talks with Marquinhos to tie him to a new contract before he enters the final 12 months of his current deal.
“I hope it will be done soon, I’m confident,” Marquinhos said on Sunday. “We’re at the final stages and details.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, Marquinhos’ new deal will run until June 2027.
The experienced centre-back has made over 500 appearances for PSG since joining the club from AS Roma in 2013. This season, the 28-year-old has linked up with Sergio Ramos in PSG’s backline, helping the club continue their domestic dominance.
PSG are also in contract talks to keep Lionel Messi at the club. However, the fans’ reaction to the Argentine star’s form in recent weeks has cast doubts over his future at Parc des Princes.
Barcelona, Inter Miami, and Al Hilal are the three clubs pushing to sign Messi as a free agent next summer. However, PSG will most likely start a new round of negotiations with the World Cup winner in the final weeks of the season.
