Paris Saint-Germain will come back stronger with the same desire to quench their thirst for European glory, assures Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Paris Saint-Germain came closer than ever before in their history to get their hands on the Champions League trophy on Sunday night at Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal.
Alas, the night ended in disappointment as they were unable to get the better of the mighty Bayern Munich.
Bayern completely deserved the win, but PSG themselves take a huge share of the blame for the 1-0 loss as they were wasteful throughout the match.
The defeat also comes as a massive statement of failure in terms of return of investment for PSG owners, who have been quite extravagant in strengthening the squad in the past few years.
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, however, is not disheartened. Speaking after the match, he suggested that his side were perhaps unlucky to win and promised the fans that they will be able to celebrate the title win someday.
“We played a final, we lost 1-0 but we can score two or three goals, it was very close. We did everything to win. It’s football, we have to accept it,” Al-Khelaifi told RMC Sport.
“We will work to have a great season next year and win the Champions League, that remains our goal.
“I want everyone to world keep their heads up. We were dreaming of bringing this cup back to Paris, but I promise that we will one day. We will do everything to win this trophy.”
