The Parisians are keen to add Ousmane Dembele to their ranks as Kylian Mbappe’s possible replacement.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly held talks with Barcelona about potentially signing Ousmane Dembele.

The 26-year-old winger has one year left on his Barcelona contract, which he signed in July 2022 amid rumours of a possible departure from the club.

Since joining Barcelona in 2017 for £90 million, Dembele has struggled with injuries, making just 127 appearances in La Liga over six seasons, averaging around 21 games per season. He has not scored more than eight league goals in a single season.

Although Barcelona tried to negotiate a contract extension with Dembele, the talks have not been as smooth as expected, leading PSG to show renewed interest in the player.

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are keen to activate Dembele’s release clause in the upcoming days.

The Frenchman has a clause in his contract that allows him to be available for €50 million (£42.9 million) until July 31, with the price increasing to €100 million afterwards. This option could potentially provide Barcelona with much-needed funds amid their financial difficulties.

Most observers believe PSG’s interest in Dembele is separate from Kylian Mbappe‘s potential departure. The Ligue 1 giants reportedly view the winger as a different target and not a direct replacement for Mbappe.
