Leonardo is convinced PSG have the two best players available in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar and Mbappe are widely regarded as the long-term successors to Messi and Ronaldo, who are both in their thirties. Such are their profiles, they’ve been regularly linked with exits from Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports have frequently touted the pair with big-money moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona in the last year alone.

But they ultimately stayed put and helped the Parisians win a domestic quadruple last season, on top of securing the club’s first-ever Champions League final appearance in August.

Now Leonardo hopes Neymar and Mbappe will continue to star at PSG for the foreseeable future.

“We want to continue with them. Everything is clear to everyone. We must continue with them,” the club’s sporting director told Canal+.

“To have two players like that on the same team is huge. Messi and Ronaldo were each in their own club. We have the two best players in the world after Messi and Ronaldo.”

Rumors, on the other hand, have been lurking on Thomas Tuchel’s future as PSG coach. The German has less than a year left on his contract amid talk of Massimiliano Allegri replacing him.

“He did something fantastic,” Leonardo said on Tuchel. “It’s the best season in the club’s history. We have time to talk about that.

“We share a lot of things, we talk about the transfer market all the time. There is always a conversation about signing a player. Tuchel always validates the choice of players.

“We have a 10-month contract. Honestly, when I arrived, I could keep him or not. We spoke very clearly. I never contacted Allegri. I know him. We hope to do better this year.”
