The Parisians will have to play without one of their best forwards against Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Asensio has suffered an injury while being on international duty with Spain.

Asensio, who joined PSG on a summer switch from Real Madrid, found a fantastic start to his PSG career. The Spaniard went into the international break on the back of scoring twice in his three appearances for the club.

However, he will have to stay out of action for at least a month after suffering a foot injury. The rehab process will see Asensio miss a crucial Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, as well as a league clash against Marseille.

The Ligue 1 champions hope to have Asensio back in their squad by the time they meet Newcastle on October 4.

PSG were given another injury scare when Kylian Mbappe was not included in France’s lineup for their 2-1 defeat against Germany on Tuesday.

A knee issue prevented the striker from participating in the game. However, PSG have confirmed the Frenchman has returned to team training after a “reassuring examination” on Thursday.

PSG will return to action with a match against Nice on Friday. Luis Enrique’s side will then host Dortmund in their first UCL match of the season four days later.
