The Italian midfielder has found a tough start to life at Parc des Princes.

Luis Enrique has backed Cher Ndour to reclaim his place in Paris Saint-Germain’s squad after a difficult start at the club.

Ndour joined the Parisians on a promising summer transfer, ending his successful spell at Benfica as a free agent. The 19-year-old’s acquisition seemed like a smart move, with Benfica officials publicly expressing their regret over his exit.

Ndour’s integration into PSG’s squad, however, hasn’t gone as smooth as many observers expected. The Italian midfielder has played only five minutes for the club while being dropped from their 25-man squad for the Champions League.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Enrique said“He has already played for us in the championship (coming on in the 85th minute against Lyon on September 3). He is very young, he has very great potential, but at the moment, he does not have too much playing time. However, he keeps working very well.”

The PSG boss added: “He is always available; I am sure he will have minutes throughout the season. It’s obvious that in a squad of 23 players, there is not enough room for everyone. But young people have the capacity to learn new things that we ask of them.”
