PSG sporting director Leonardo appears confident that Kylian Mbappe and Neymar will sign new contracts at the club in the near future.
Leonardo, Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, believes he will soon be in a position to deliver a positive update on contract talks with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
The Ligue 1 giants have been locked in extension discussions with two superstar forwards as they approach the final 12 months of their respective deals.
Neither has given much away, but Mbappe recently claimed there was ‘nothing’ ongoing regarding contract renewal talks.
However, PSG are intent on tying the duo to a new contract to avoid the possibility of losing them for free in the summer of 2022.
Following their 3-2 win over Bayern Munich, Leonardo was asked about progress being made on the contract front with the star duo.
He told Sky Sport Italia: “We will be happy to talk about contracts [soon]. We will have to see how things are. Things will be more concrete soon.
“But for now we have to concentrate on the Champions League as we are entering the final phase.”
Leonardo also played down suggestions the club could move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer.
“Donnarumma? I don’t talk about transfers now, (Keylor) Navas is great.”
Mbappe scored twice and Neymar grabbed two assists in the thrilling win over Bayern in Germany on Wednesday. The win saw PSG take a giant step towards a place in the semi-finals.
