The English giants are in danger of losing a key player for free next summer.
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has revealed the French giants are keen to sign Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
The England international is spending the final months of his current deal at Old Trafford. According to Al-Khelaifi, PSG are planning to sign him as a free agent next summer.
“[Rashford] is another player that is really amazing,” he said. “And for free? To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.
“We’re not hiding it, we spoke before and…[there was] interest. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe, summer, why not?
“Today if he’s a free agent of course we can talk to him directly but we are not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then after in January, hopefully, if we’re interested we will talk to him.”
Can Man Utd keep Rashford?
The Red Devils have the option of activating an additional year-long option in Rashford’s contract.
Widespread reports in English media claim the club are planning to do so in the near future. However, given PSG’s record in chasing their transfer targets, that might not be enough to fend off the Ligue 1 champions.
Rashford’s newly-found form in the club and country has convinced Gary Neville that United should “never” sell him.
“Marcus Rashford has got back to what he does,” the Man Utd legend told Sky Sports last week. He’s simplified his life, he’s still achieving great things off the pitch but in a more measured manner.
“There were people saying that Marcus Rashford needed to be sold by Manchester United. Manchester United could never sell Marcus Rashford. He’s a massive talent.
“It’s great to see him in an England shirt, and I think he’s pushed himself into a position where he will start on Sunday.”
