PSG’s preparations for the new season have been dealt a huge blow as three players tested positive for coronavirus.
Paris Saint-Germain are in the midst of regrouping ahead of the defense of their Ligue 1 title; only to suffer an untimely blow in their preparations.
Three players returned positive tests as the club performed a round of testing for coronavirus. No further details were released, but PSG assured they will follow all health protocols in France.
“Three Paris Saint-Germain players have confirmed positive Sars CoV2 tests and are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” read a statement on the club’s Twitter.
“All of the players and coaching staff will continue to undergo tests in the coming days.”

While PSG didn’t disclose the identifies of the three players in question, reports claim Neymar could be one of them.
The Parisians had confirmed on Monday that two players tested positive for COVID-19 as well, fueling fears that there would be more cases to follow.
French outlet L’Equipe claimed the two players in question were Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes. The Argentinian pair vacationed in the Spanish island of Ibiza after PSG’s Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich.
PSG are due to begin the 2020/21 Ligue 1 campaign away to Lens on September 10. However, they may have to postpone the match as the French Football Federations’ guidelines state that teams must suspend game if there are more than four players with coronavirus.
Fellow French clubs Marseille, Lyon, Nantes, and Montpellier have also reported positive tests recently.
