The Parisians are on the verge of signing one of the most promising strikers in French football.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly reached an agreement to add Hugo Ekitike to their ranks ahead of the next season.

The 20-year-old attracted interest from several clubs after his impressive performances for Reims last season.

Newcastle pushed hard to convince the player for a transfer away from Ligue 1, but it seems PSG have defeated them in the transfer race.

According to Goal, Ekitike will join the Parisians on a €28.5m deal, with a further €6.5m in add-ons to follow.

The Frenchman has already agreed to personal terms with PSG, planning to sign a five-year contract at Parc des Princes.

In addition to Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United had also inquired about Ekitike. The Magpies’ efforts to sign the striker began in January, but he preferred to stay in France.

Ekitike broke into Reims’ senior team during the 2020-21 campaign. The Ligue 1 side sent him out on loan to Danish side Vejle in January 2021, where he made 11 appearances.

The Frenchman, however, enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough campaign last season.

He spent a good chunk of the season on the sidelines due to his hamstring injury. However, that didn’t stop him from establishing himself as a key player for Reims upon his return.
