PSG crushed the Belgian side in their last group stage game of the Champions League.
PSG defeated Club Brugge with a 4-1 result in their Champions League game on Wednesday. Despite Man City’s defeat against Leipzig in the group’s other match, the French giants qualified behind them.
Messi and Mbappe put on a show!
PSG started the game with total dominance and got their first two goals in the first seven minutes of the game. Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring in the second minute and doubled his side’s lead only five minutes later.
However, this was not the end of Mbappe’s brilliant performance in the first half. The France international provided the assist for Lionel Messi’s third Champions League goal of the season in the 38th minute. Receiving Mbappe’s assist, Messi fired a stunning shot from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 for the hosts.
Brugge put pressure on PSG’s backline at the beginning of the second half. Mats Rits scored for the Belgian side in the 68th minute, following an incredible run and assist by Noa Lang.
PSG intensified their attacks after conceding the goal, constantly threatening the guests with through balls. Following a foul on Messi by Ignace Van der Brempt, the referee awarded PSG a free-kick. Messi then stepped up to take the penalty and completed his brace with a low shot to the right corner.
PSG qualified to the next round behind Manchester City, who won the group. RB Leipzig qualified for the Europa League, while Club Brugge were eliminated from the European games.
