It was an atypical night for PSG at Parc des Princes ahead of their Champions League match against RB Leipzig. They were coming from a fantastic victory over Manchester City in which Leo Messi finally scored his first goal of the season. After a complicated international break, Neymar wasn’t able to return fully fit from Brazil. Leo got some rest over the weekend and Mbappe has been back for over a week.

Mauricio Pochettino decided to use Julian Draxler amid all the personal issues that Mauro Icardi is currently going through. But Messi and Mbappe were more than enough for PSG to get what they wanted. Initially, the match started with a great goal from Mbappe after a Julian Draxler assist early in the game. However, Andre Silva scored the equalizer in order to grant RB Leipzig the edge they wanted for tonight’s game. Everything was taken to the second half with a momentary draw. Messi still hadn’t appeared but he was saving himself for the second half.

The Messi/Mbappe duo strikes again.

After the break, Mukiele managed to surprise PSG with an unexpected goal that gave RB Leipzig the lead. Just like they did during the game against Manchester City, Kylian Mbappe connected with Messi at the most expected moment. It took PSG only ten minutes to respond to the German squad via a Messi equalizer. He got a great assist from Mbappe during a counterattack and left the rest of the game open for the winner.

Near the end, Messi collected a penalty awarded for PSG with a ‘Panenka’ shot down the middle. With this victory, the French squad reaches 7 points within Group A with Manchester City trailing them with 6. Leo seems way more adapted to the team’s dynamic compared to when he arrived. As far as Neymar goes, he will only be out of activity for a few days. It’s still unclear if he will play next Sunday during the French Derby against Olympique Marseille.
