PSG extend their lead at the top of the table as Kylian Mbapped scores a first-half brace.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Monaco with a 2-0 result in their Ligue 1 game on Sunday. The Parisians bagged three more points as the Messi- Mbappe connection looked sharp.
Mbappe steals the show!
PSG came into the game on the back of a 4-1 win over Club Brugge. The Parisians followed the same attacking approach at the beginning of the game.
Following a careless challenge on Angel Di Maria, the referee awarded PSG an early penalty. Mbappe fired a low shot to the left corner of the net while sending the keeper the wrong way.
PSG continued their attacks after scoring the opener, constantly threatening Monaco’s backline with deep passes from Lionel Messi. After collecting a loose ball in midfield, the Argentine charged forward and provided a trademark assist just before the interval. Mbappe received the ball in the perfect place, firing it past the keeper to score his 100th league goal for PSG,
The intensity of PSG’s efforts dropped significantly in the second period. On the other hand, Monaco were too cautious of PSG’s deadly counterattacks when attacking. PSG had a few chances toward the end of the game, but Monaco defenders managed to block their last passes.
The victory extends PSG’s lead on top of the table to 13 points. The Parisians will now prepare for their next French Cup game against SC Feignies on Sunday.
On the other hand, Monaco stay eighth ahead of their upcoming match against Red Star.
