Parc des Princes was the place where Manchester City visited PSG in the UEFA Champions League. We have tonight’s player ratings.

PSG got visited by Manchester City in a sensational Champions League match between the two most powerful clubs in the world right now. Keep in mind that when we say power, we obviously mean money in this case. Pep Guardiola had another chance to play against Leo Messi, only this time he is wearing the PSG jersey. Throughout last week, we feared he could miss this crucial game with some knee pain he was suffering. But Leo is aware that missing Ligue 1 matches aren’t that harmful if he is not feeling 100% fit to play.

What matters is playing the Champions League matches like the one they played today. A day before kick-off, we saw Messi training alongside his teammates as a sign he could start against City today. As it was expected, Mauricio Pochettino decided to line up his demolishing attacking trio that everybody should fear. But the results thus far haven’t been what everyone would expect. Leo, Neymar, and Mbappe still need more playing time in order to find that sweet spot. Regardless, PSG did score the opening goal through Gueye after a play in which all three of them touched the ball.

Leo Messi finally breaks the lock with Mbappe’s help.

After the break, Guardiola’s Citizens mostly kept the ball and dominated attempts. However, PSG was always dangerous on the counterattack due to their amazing attacking trio. Keeping that advantage was a massive motivation to possibly score the second goal at the first chance they got. The key moment arrived only minutes away from the final whistle as Messi galloped towards the goalkeeper.

Mbappe always kept him company waiting for the one-two pass. When Messi finally decided to drop it, the French star simply heeled the ball back to him for a brilliant finish. Leo finally breaks the lock and scores his first official PSG goal, likely the first of many that will come over the next couple of years. With this goal, Manchester City had very little left to do against one of the most powerful attacking lineups in recent memory. Not even the powerful Citizens could stop them.
