A dominant home display resulted in PSG’s narrow win in Ligue 1.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Brest 1-0 in their Ligue 1 clash on Saturday. Neymar scored another match-winner for the Parisians as they remained at the top of the league table.
Christophe Galtier’s side came into the game on the back of a crucial win over Juventus in the Champions League.
The French boss decided to play with his usual PSG lineup, using Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappe upfront.
The hosts took complete control of the game, creating several chances early on.
However, they had to wait for 30 minutes before breaking the deadlock through Neymar. A fantastic long ball from Messi found the Brazilian, who smashed the ball behind Brest’s keeper with a powerful finish.
Neymar increased his fantastic league record to eight goals and six assists in seven matches by scoring against Brest.
The guests looked slightly better at the beginning of the second period. However, PSG kept them at bay by threatening them with fast-paced counter-attacks.
The Parisians found several more chances to increase their lead throughout the second period but had to settle for a narrow win.
Galtier’s side will return to Champions League to take on Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday.
